Importance of an element

Importance of an element

In any photography composition, knowing what to include in the picture and what not to include is very important. In a good composition, all elements are important. Just to illustrate this point, I included two images. The image on the left is an original image. The lonely bare tree adds really well to tell a story. It could be about the season, could be about life of a tree etc. To illustrate an importance of an element, in the image on the right, I removed the tree in PS. Now the image without this tree is still a nice image but becomes less powerful in conveying a message.
Tip: It is very important to study the scene to understand what is available, what to include and what to exclude to come up with a better photograph.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Grand Teton National Park Photography trip September 2014 Part-II

Farm house and Milky way in Grand Teton national Park: From crowded Mormon Barn location, we headed to this farm house there were not many photographers at this location. This allowed us to have better control on the light painting of this farm house and trees. Please feel free to share.

Grand Teton National Park Photography trip September 2014 Part-I

Milky way over Mormon Barn, Grand Teton National Park:
Two week ends back along with other two photographer friends I drove to Grand Teton National park to catch some fall colors. We reached the campground on Thursday evening and after setting up camping tent and a quick dinner, we headed to Mormon Row to photograph this iconic barn under star filled sky. There were about 20-25 photographers already lined up to do some night photography and we learned that it is part of some photography workshop. As they were already doing light painting of the barn, I set up my shot to capture light painted barn with milky way and star filled sky above it. It was extremely difficult to get a picture with right amount of light painting as there were multiple photographers trying to light paint the barn. These days interest in photography has gone up thanks to digital revolution and popular places are becoming crowded. In coming days I will post my other shots from this photo trip. Please fell free to share.
